You\u0027ll want the file type \u003Ccode class=\u0022inline-code\u0022\u003E.csv\u003C/code\u003E (Comma Separated Value) for DailyStory, but if you have an Excel file or other type, you can easily save that file as a .csv. On the right, you\u0027ll find a drop down where you can select which field to import that data to. This way you can always refer back to it and see the specific contacts you brought in for each import.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Ch4 id=\u0022complete_the_import\u0022\u003EComplete the import\u003C/h4\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIf your CSV file included column headings, click \u003Ccode class=\u0022inline-code\u0022\u003EFirst row has column heading\u003C/code\u003E checkbox and then click \u003Ccode class=\u0022inline-code\u0022\u003EImport Contacts\u003C/code\u003E.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOnce the import is complete, you will receive an email confirming your contacts have been imported. You can access the newly created and saved segment from your segments list. You\u0027ll see it listed on your segments page. It\u0027s a \u003Ca href=\u0022/article/v1v5lti4gf-segments\u0022\u003EDynamic Segment\u003C/a\u003E, which means it will automatically update for you whenever new contacts are added to the system.\u003C/p\u003E\u003C/cite\u003E\u003Ch2 id=\u0022you_can_also_opt_to_import_contacts_as_inactiveandnbsp\u0022\u003EYou can also opt to import contacts as \u0027inactive\u0027\u0026nbsp;\u003C/h2\u003E\u003Ch4 id=\u0022importing_contacts_as_inactive\u0022\u003EImporting contacts as Inactive\u003C/h4\u003E\u003Cp\u003EYou may have contacts that are inactive which you wish to prevent getting \u0022reactivated\u0022. These can include contacts that are deceased, people who have completely opted out of any communication, or other options. Furthermore, inactive contacts do not count towards license limits.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETo import contacts as inactive, prepare a normal import.
