Step 2: Bring in your contacts

Christy Cook Updated by Christy Cook

There are several ways to bring in your contacts, and we'll help you choose the right method for you! The simplest and quickest way is to import a list you already have, but the most powerful way is to integrate with your POS (point-of-sale) or CRM system. We'll walk you through both.

Please review our video tutorial or scroll below for step-by-step instructions:

Import a list

  1. Export your contact records from your current system. You'll want the file type .csv for DailyStory, but if you have an excel file (.xls) or other type, you can easily save that file as a .csv.
  2. Navigate to Contacts > Import Contacts.
  3. Select the .csv file from your computer and then click Next

  1. Map, name and import!

Map: You will see your column headings from your .csv file on the left and where you would like those records to map into DailyStory on the right (1). We will attempt to match them up for you, but you can click on the drop down arrow to change the field.

Name: Next, we recommend creating a New Segment for your import, so you can always refer back to it and see the specific contacts you brought in for each import. (2)

Import: Finally, click on the "Do not import first row" (3) if your file had column headings and then click on Import Contacts. (4)

  1. Once the import is complete, you will receive an email confirming your contacts have been imported. You can access the newly created and saved segment from your segments list. Click on the Segments button on the home screen or navigate to Contacts > All Segments.

When your account was created, DailyStory created a starter segment called All Contacts for you. You'll see it listed on your segments page. It's a Dynamic Segment, which means it will automatically update for you whenever new contacts are added to the system.

Connect with your CRM

The most powerful way to bring your contacts into DailyStory is by connecting with your POS (point-of-sale) or CRM system. When your platforms are integrated, your customer records automatically update and sync in your DailyStory platform. This saves you time and effort and unleashes the power of Dynamic Segments (saved lists that automatically update based on the criteria you set).

To set up an integration, navigate to your UserProfile Settings > Integrations.

You'll be taken to a list of all built-in integrations that you can sort by category.

Click on the gear icon and select Configure to enter the information needed. You can also access documentation with instructions by selecting Documentation for the integration.
