    Connect to Claude

Connect Claude to your DailyStory account and you can ask about your contacts, segments and campaign results, draft and edit emails and text messages, send yourself tests and schedule sends, all from a conversation. This article walks through the connection step by step. For what Claude can do once connected, and the permissions behind each tool, see Connect AI Assistants to DailyStory with MCP.

    Before you start

    • A DailyStory login that has been verified. On a free trial, the account itself must also be verified before assistants can connect.
    • A Claude account on any plan. Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise all support custom connectors; Free plans are limited to one. On Team and Enterprise plans, only an Owner can add a connector, after which anyone in the organization can connect their own DailyStory login to it.
    • AI assistant connections turned on for your DailyStory account. They are on by default; an administrator can check under Settings > Login and Permissions > Connected Apps.
    • The DailyStory MCP server URL is the URL when logged in to DailyStory with /mcp, e.g. https://us-1.dailystory.com/mcp. Note your URL may be different.
    No API key needed

You connect by signing in to DailyStory and approving what Claude may access. DailyStory API keys cannot be used with MCP, and you never paste a password or key into Claude.

    Add DailyStory to Claude

These steps are for Claude on the web (claude.ai). Connectors are shared with the Claude desktop and mobile apps, so you only need to do this once.

    1. In Claude, open Settings and choose Connectors.
    2. Click Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans this option is in the organization's connector settings and is available to Owners.
    3. Enter DailyStory as the name and paste the DailyStory MCP server URL into the URL field. Leave the advanced settings empty.
    4. Click Add. DailyStory now appears in your list of connectors.
    5. Click Connect next to DailyStory. A DailyStory sign-in window opens.
    6. Sign in with your DailyStory username and password, exactly as you would in the DailyStory app.
    7. Review the permissions Claude is asking for and click Allow. Each permission unlocks a group of tools, for example reading your segments or creating emails; see Permissions you grant for the full list.
    8. You are returned to Claude and DailyStory shows as connected.
    Approve only what you need

You can connect with read permissions alone if you just want to ask questions and pull reports. Claude only sees the tools for the permissions you approve, and an assistant can never do more than your own DailyStory login allows.

    Test the connection

Start a new chat and make sure the DailyStory connector is turned on for it (check the tools menu in the message box). Then ask something simple:

    • "Which DailyStory account am I connected to?"
    • "How many contacts do we have in Texas?"
    • "List my segments."
    • "How did our last newsletter perform?"

Claude will call DailyStory and answer from your live account data. The first time Claude uses a tool in a chat it may ask you to allow it; you can allow it for the rest of that chat.

    You confirm every send

Claude never sends to your contacts on its own. Test emails and texts go only to you or the addresses you confirm, and a scheduled send happens only after Claude has shown you exactly what will go out, to whom and when, and you have confirmed.

    What to try next

    Manage or disconnect

To see the connection from the DailyStory side, go to Settings > Personal Settings > Connected Apps. It shows what Claude can access, when it was connected and when it was last used. Click Revoke to disconnect immediately. Administrators can see and revoke every user's connections under Settings > Login and Permissions > Connected Apps.

To remove the connector from Claude instead, open Settings > Connectors, find DailyStory and choose Remove. A connection that goes unused for 30 days expires on its own, and Claude will ask you to sign in again the next time you use it.

    Troubleshooting

    ProblemWhat to check
Sign-in fails or says the account cannot connectYour DailyStory login and account must both be verified. On a free trial, finish account verification first.
Claude says AI assistant connections are turned offAn administrator has turned off the Allow AI assistant connections (MCP) switch under Settings > Login and Permissions > Connected Apps. Existing connections are kept and start working again when it is turned back on.
Claude can read data but will not create or schedule anythingEither you did not approve the authoring or scheduling permissions when connecting, or your DailyStory user lacks the matching permission (manage content, send email, send text messages). Reconnect and approve the permission, or ask an administrator to update your user.
Claude asks you to sign in againThe connection expired after 30 days without use, or it was revoked in DailyStory. Click Connect again.
DailyStory does not appear in the chatOpen the tools menu in the message box and turn the DailyStory connector on for that chat.
