Auto-route leads based on geographic location

DailyStory customers that work with multiple physical locations, such as franchises, can leverage geocoded lead routing.

Use of geocode lead routing additionally requires a parent account with one or more child accounts. For example, ACME corporate is the parent account of ACME Dallas, ACME San Francisco, ACME London. Whereas Dallas, San Francisco, and London are child accounts.

What is Geocoded Lead Routing?

Geocoded lead routing routes leads that submit web forms, magic forms, or from other inbound lead acquisition sources to the account (tenant) closest to them.

For example, if you run a gym or store and acquire a new lead from a Facebook ad or web form submitted on your website. Geocoded lead routing will examine the submitters IP address, use that IP address to determine a geographic location, identify the account closest to that location, and finally assign that new lead to that account.

How to setup geocoded lead routing

To setup geocoded lead routing, first ensure the address is set for all your child accounts.

Ensure your locations tenant's addresses are set

All your account addresses must be set in account settings. DailyStory automatically geocodes it.

If a tenant's address is not set, it isn't eligible for lead routing.

Configure the parent tenant

All of the lead routing originates in the parent tenant. The parent tenant receives the original lead and runs the lead through an automation. This means the parent tenant will have a copy of the lead and the tenant that the lead is routed to will also have a copy.

Setup a flow to process leads

Geocoded lead routing is accomplished using an automation or flow. You can modify an existing automation or create a new automation for geocoded lead routing.

Use the Auto-route to subaccount action in an automation and the automation will automatically route the lead to the closest child account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions about geocoded lead routing.

If two locations are in the same area, which location is selected to route the lead to?

If two locations are in the same city or location, they will still have a unique geographic location (latitude and longitude). The lead which was submitted and needs to be geographically routed will also have a unique latitude and longitude calculated based off their location. Using geographic math, the location closest to the lead's location is calculated and then selected as the location to receive the lead.

How do I know which location the lead was routed to?

The lead is always first created in the parent account. When the lead is routed to a child account through an automation the lead in the parent's account is updated to reflect where the lead was moved to. In the lead's source it will show:
